Aahh, I get it now.  I think we really do know why this show that has very little to do with dogs is named Terriers.  But we already answered that question.  Last night we got to find out whether this show would find its footing or whether it would become just another show in the “I’m a cop, but not a real cop” genre.  I know it’s probably smart to leave the answer to that question until after the jump, but I’m not one to make you wait.  Terriers is officially on my list of shows to watch.  …

For the life of me I couldn’t really figure out what this new Private Eye detective show had to do with its title.  I complained about it in the review of the pilot and then did some thoughtful research.  Okay, I just searched Google and Wikipedia.  But what I found was incredibly interesting and shed a lot of light on the new FX show title.  Yes, you guessed it.  Donal Logue and Terriers both love their unruly beards.  In fact, I’d say Logue’s beard is more Terrier like that the terrier.

The perfect title for a show is not only creative, but somewhat vague.  How I Met Your Mother is great except that it boxed in its creators.  Same goes for Two Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place (if you haven’t seen that show, watch it.  It’s hilarious).  Friday Night Lights limited its audience due to its obvious reference to football.  TV shows like Scrubs or even House work because they don’t have obvious connotations and can be made into anything.  Terriers is as awful a title as Cougar Town.  When I think of Terriers, my first thought …
